Australia Launches the World’s First-of-its-Kind Borderless Innovation Centre in Melbourne

Startups in Victoria will soon be able to co-incubate and co-accelerate between Melbourne and Shanghai

16th Oct 2015 – Australia launches the world’s first-of-its-kind Borderless Innovation Centre in Melbourne to co-incubate and co-accelerate Victorian startups between both Borderless Innovation Centres in Melbourne and Shanghai.

This innovation centre in Melbourne is modeled after the world-class Borderless Innovation Centre built at the heart of Shanghai city. The facilities in Melbourne will include a state-of-the-art TV studio, a lecture theatre, a smart home experience centre, and an incubator and accelerator hub which will allow selected startups and innovations in Victoria to partake in the latest phenomenon in market sensitive intellectual property development. In this process, healthcare problems in China are identified and institutions in Victoria can hold hackathons to help China develop solutions which can be incubated and accelerated between the two centres. Participants will also have the opportunity to be featured in the Borderless Tech show which will be broadcasted to investment communities in China and Asia. Interested investors and buyers will meet the innovator via a pre-arranged demo day in one of the Borderless Innovation Centres. In addition to professional investors, innovators can also work with many borderless crowdfunding initiatives in China and Asia.

Borderless Healthcare Group hopes to create a direct channel for Australian goods and services to enter into millions of homes in China via home commerce, smart homecare and smart home health platform. “A series of innovation centres will be created around the world over the next 12 months which will connect innovations from Europe, US, Israel and Australia with China’s and Asia’s giant marketplace. The phenomenon of collaborative innovation, IP hybridisation and cross border entrepreneurship will soon become a reality with a very efficient market entry process,” says Dr Wei Siang Yu, Chairman of Borderless Healthcare Group.

A website is created to showcase a portfolio of smart projects between Australia and China/Asia.
