Upcoming Australia-China innovation bridge to facilitate direct access to millions of homes and multi-billion dollar capital market in China via www.BorderlessAustralia.com
15th Dec 2015 – Borderless Healthcare Group and the Victorian Government launch third party expression of interest for the development of Borderless Innovation Centre in Melbourne as part of an MOU inked on 16th November 2015 in Beijing announced by the Minister for Trade and Innovation, Mr. Philip Dalidakis. The Victorian Government has taken the Australian lead in creating new deals for healthcare with the largest emerging market in the world, China and greater Asia.
Innovations, technologies, professional services and even agricultural products can soon unlock economic value in China’s 200M plus silver tsunami, lack of family physician system and the multi-billion dollar healthcare reform. Access to the Chinese marketplace can now be accelerated via technology platforms like the Smart TV, which is the major media platform in the home. Borderless Healthcare Group has recently inked an MOU with Sky Worth, one of the largest OTT (Over The Top) box manufacturers globally to produce the world’s first health and aged care centric OTT box which allows millions of elderly in China to age “actively” at home. More than 90 percent of the 200M plus elderly people are ageing at home and most homes are not equipped with devices, technologies, content and services to allow active ageing in place. Healthcare, homecare, allied health, fitness, mental wellness, dietary, edutainment, organic farm operators can now have their direct offering via Smart TV to millions of Chinese homes.
Via the upcoming Borderless Innovation Centre in Melbourne, Australian innovations can now work with the Chinese counterparts to take advantage of the China IPO marketplace which yields a much higher valuation than the US market. In fact, many Chinese listed companies in US are now delisting to return for relisting in the Chinese stock market. Conversely, working with the giant Chinese marketplace can potentially set exponential valuation for Australian companies.
Victorian Parliamentary Secretary for Medical Research, Mr Frank McGuire, today launched the Borderless Innovation Centre in Melbourne. “The aim is to connect Victoria’s leadership and excellence in medical research and technology with investors and the massive emerging Asian market, especially in China,” Mr McGuire said. “This is an outstanding opportunity for businesses in research, development and innovation to tap into global capital and enter the world’s largest healthcare market, China and greater Asia,” he added.
“This is an exciting era that heralds the emergence of the new collaborative economy. Return of investment for the research and development of intellectual properties can now be more predictable and securitised if we have the foresight of developing or “matching” intellectual properties with market needs,” explained by Dr Wei Siang Yu, Chairman of Borderless Healthcare Group which is an advocate of market sensitive intellectual properties development. Global hackathons to create solutions for healthcare, aged care in China will be held on a regular basis in the upcoming Borderless Innovation Centre in Melbourne.
Borderless Healthcare Group and the Victorian Government invite third parties who are interested to be part of the upcoming Borderless Innovation Centre to join in various capacities including venue partnership, industry partnership, venture partnership as well as knowledge partnership. This centre will be modeled after the world’s first-of- its- kind Borderless Innovation Centre in Shanghai which has a state-of-the-art smart home experience centre, a TV studio, a lecture theatre, an incubation/acceleration hub etc.
Members of the Melbourne centre can have access to the Borderless Innovation Centre in China. In addition to the current Shanghai centre, other upcoming centres will be located in Shenzhen, Beijing and Chengdu. Other upcoming centres outside of China will include Israel, Holland, United Kingdom, United States etc. A website www.BorderlessAustralia.com has been setup to showcase key portfolio of innovative projects.
